DNK presents a wonderful and intense program of musicians from Australia; Anthony Pateras, Max Kohane and Robin Fox, augmented by the Swiss saxophonist Antoine Chessex make up four sets of rock solid music. Do not miss this show!
PIVIXKI
Anthony Pateras - Piano Max Kohane - Drums
Anthony Pateras is a composer/performer based in Melbourne who is as comfortable writing for full orchestra as he is performing in intimate improvisational groupings. Pateras represents the best in the new generation of musicians combining the spontaneity of improvisation with the formal logic of composition. For the first time in Europe, PIVIXKI proposes a brand new collaboration between Pateras and drummer Max Kohane fusing breakneck pianistic density with furious grind percussions.
Robin Fox
- Laser and electronics
Robin Fox will describe the sonic geometry of the sound: Enveloping the audience in synchronous sound and light information, the experience resembles a synaesthetic experience where what you hear is also what you see. The same electricity generated to move the speaker cones is sent simultaneously to high-speed motors that deflect the laser light on an x/y axis converting sonic vibration into light movement.
Antoine Chessex
- Saxophone & electronics
Swiss composer and performer Chessex is active internationaly since the mid 90s. His works range from pieces for ensembles to solo performance over collaborations with numerous international artists like Zbigniew Karkwoski, Lasse Marhaug, Chris Corsano, C. Spencer Yeh, Axel Dörner, Valerio Tricoli and Monno. His solo performances feature live saxophone textures treated via electronics and resulting in physical sonic experiences in total immersion in sounds.
Robin Fox & Anthony Pateras
- Electronics
Formed in 2000, Pateras & Fox execute an electrified real-time homage to some of their favorite obsessions: breakneck pacing, vocal hysterics and blistering textures. A toxic mix of comedy and violence, they perform exquisitely sculpted electro-acoustic vignettes creating a visceral battlefield of hyperactive audio. The duo have performed countless concerts throughout Australia, Europe, the USA and Japan, and have recorded three acclaimed full-length releases. Their music is currently released by Editions Mego.
