Set 1:
Alex Nowitz - voice and live electronics
voicescapes - for solo voice
studies for self-portrait - for amplified voice and live-electronics
Alex Nowitz presents two pieces for voice and electronics after a double working period at
STEIM. Nowitz is a composer, voice artist, whistling and singing virtuoso performing in various styles including interpreting composed new music. With a background as a singer in hardcore bands he has traversed from tenor to countertenor, learning many other techniques and styles along the way. He uses the computer to extend his array of vocal possibilities, as a means of creating abstracted reflections of sounds he has created in the live situation.
Set 2:
Praed Raed Yassin - double bass, tapes, electronics, video
Paed Conca - bass guitar, clarinet, electronics
A highly playful electro-acoustic duo between Lebanese bassist / video artist Raed Yassin and Swiss bassist / composer Paed Conca. In this setting they combine their multi-instrumental talents with added visuals. Raed is a resident artist at De Ateliers - Amsterdam, touring regularly in groups drawn from the pool of Lebanese improvisors, including a trio with Mazen Kerbaj and Sharif Sehnaoui. Paed, who was last seen at DNK as a member of
Blast4Tet also tours and collaborates extensively on the experimental improvised scene.
