Two very special performances dealing with site, surface, communication and acoustics by two artists at the forefront where sound, visual and performative art interconnect.

Toshiya Tsunoda

Scenery from Vibration

Many vessels spread around the floor. They all contain piezo ceramic discs connected to an oscillator playing shifting high frequency sine waves. As tiny vibration plates, the piezo discs tremble on the surfaces, reproducing the sine waves in accordance with the condition of contact.

"Toshiya Tsunoda is a Yokohama based artist who has studied at the Tokyo National University of Fine Art and Music. Tsunoda is concerned with the relation between sound space and cognition space and the hidden beauty in the tiniest sonic details."

Brandon Labelle

Stage Fright

Exploring the fright of the stage, the performance is presented as a nervous script - a stranger enters, the audience waits: What sound is this? What is he going to do? An object is given. It starts to circulate, a shared sound, a distributed body. It starts to speak. It whispers, it coughs, it laughs. The room becomes a sound-space full of movement, modulated by everyone.

Brandon LaBelle is an artist and writer working with sound and the specifics of location. His work explores the space between sound and sociality, using performance and on-site constructions as creative supplements to existing conditions.
